History of
“Krack Kookies”
My beloved Grandma Marie’s ancestors arrived from Germany and settles in Robert’s Cove, Louisiana. Marie continued a family tradition of baking “German tea cookies,” known as Zucher Platzkens. As a little girl I have fond memories of my grandma smiling as we ate her crunchy treats. Years later I bake these airy, not too sweet cookies for our local annual Germanfest, just as she did, inspired by my family’s original recipe. Popularity among family, friends and festivalgoers leads me to my dream of sharing with the world.
